CIVIL-MILITARY COOPERATION ROUNDTABLE OPERATIONS SEMINAR FROM 18-20 AT COMMAND GUEST HOUSE, MAIDUGURI

The 3 days combined Nigerian Army(NA) and British-US Civil-Military Operations/Civil-Military Cooperation workshop organized by British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) and the Office of Security Cooperation (OS) of the United State Embassy, Abuja. It was designed to serve as a forum to discuss Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) between the NA and the Humanitarian community in order to promote best practices and complement Operation LAST HOLD in the fringing of Lake Chad. The roundtable seminar consisted of erudite experts in CIMIC operations and other fields of humanitarian assistance. The following topics were articulated during the interactive session: The nature and character of civilian, Humanitarian principles, Civil-Military Coordination and Protection of civilians in the theater. Additionally, the 25 participants currently deployed in NorthEast from the rank of Major – Brigadier General and the G9 cell officers from all formations were in attendance. Hence, the seminar gave the participants the opportunity to interact and share ideas with some of the humanitarian agencies in the North East.
