GARKIDA WATER PROJECT IN GOMBI LGA, ADAMAWA STATE

    The commissioning ceremony of the Garkida Water Project was held on 1 Nov 18.  The project was commissioned by the COAS, Lt Gen TY Buratai accompanied by the Representative of the His Excellency Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Comrade Ahmed I Sajoh Honourable commissioner of Information and Strategy. Other dignitaries at the commissioning ceremony include the CCMA, CTOP, CCA, GOC 3 Div, DMI, MP, the Sole Administrator Garkida Development Area, Mrs Abu Shalangwa. Others were the traditional and religious leaders and the people of Garkida community. The CCMA, Major General Nuhu Angbazo delivered the opening remark where he highlighted several CIMIC projects that were approved by the COAS and executed as part of his Special CIMIC intervention projects.  The CCMA further stated in his remarks that CIMIC projects such as the Garkida Water Project were part of the NA’s efforts at bridging the gap with the populace and ensuring that the NA gave back to the society.

    The representative of the executive Governor of Adamawa State in his remarks appreciated the COAS and the NA on behalf of the people of Garkida and the entire Adamawa State for the provision of clean potable drinking water.  He further acknowledged the efforts of the NA in ensuring the country particularly Adamawa State was safe from the Boko Haram insurgency.  He furthermore warned the community to ensure that the facility is properly maintained at all cause in order to enjoy the benefit why it was constructed for a very longtime. Subsequently, the COAS in his remarks stated that the NA as part of its corporate social responsibility ensures that it gives back to the society hence the Garkida Water Project.  He appreciated the good people of Garkida for living in peace and encouraged them to continue to be their brother’s keeper.  He further urged the community to maintain the facility for optimal usage.  The COAS stated that the NA would continue to do all to guarantee the security and stability of the country in line with its constitutional responsibilities. Additionally, the COAS granted the request by the students of Government Day Secondary School, Garkida to fence their school, and he further directed the CCMA to forward the estimate for his approval.
