Army Organises Gender Mainstreaming Workshop in Port-Harcourt

Nigerian Army in collaboration with British Defence Section West Africa organises Gender Mainstreaming Workshop For Enhanced Professionalism in the Nigerian Army at Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt Rivers State from 19 -21 January 2022. The workshop was declared open by the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Operation DELTA SAFE, Maj Gen OO Oluyede ably represented by the Commander 56 Signal Brigade, Brig Gen EO Agbebaku.

The objectives among others are capacity building for officers and men of the NA, particularly as assigned missions within the joint environment becomes complex, increasingly expanding and dynamic in the areas of Gender Mainstreaming, lnternational Humanitarian Law, Fundamentals Human Rights and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse .

The exercise has been held so far at AHQ Gar, HQ 81 Div, HQ 1 Div, HQ 3 Div and HQ 2 Div as well as HQ 8 Div respectively. The COAS, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya recently approved the second phase of the Workshop. Participants are drawn from HQ 6 Div formations and units, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Police , Nigeria Immigration Service Federal Road Safety Corps and members of National Youths Service Corps.
