Counter Insurgency: Army Unveils Another Set Of Indigenous Military Hardwares

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin in company of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai  has commissioned 4 Mine Resistant  Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles designed and manufactured in Nigeria in partnership between Nigerian Army and Proforce Limited yesterday. This took place during the Graduation Ceremony of the pioneering participants of Strategic Management and Policy Studies course 1/2018 at the Nigerian Army Resources Center Asokoro Abuja.

The MRAP vehicles being a new innovation in collaboration with the Proforce Limited and the Nigerian Army is in line with the Local Content Policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the desire and commitment of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TY Buratai for the Army to be self reliance and the need to develop indigenous production of Defence hardware.

The Chief of Army Staff in his brief to the Chief of Defence Staff General AG Olonisakin state that the Theater of operation (North East) is expecting additional five MRAPs which are still in the production stage. The MRAPs vehicles will be deployed to the Front line in the North East to fight terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria. More of these vehicles and other combat capabilities are expected soon.

It is however recalled that under the leadership of Lieutenant General TY Buratai, Nigerian Army has successfully established the first ever Army vehicle Manufacturing company in Nigeria and indeed in Africa which has commenced production of various types of combat and bullets proof vehicles, ballistic helmets, protective jackets among other military hardware.
